NOOR
نور

A connection between the worlds of horology and automobiles; Noor revives the tradition of “pop-up headlights”, prevalent in cars of the latter half of the 20th century, in a hide-away watch, usually housed flat within its case, and brought to view with the push of a button.

Noor -Arabic for light, illumination- is a concept 4 years in the making and brings mechanical complexity together with aesthetic purity on the wrist.

It was important from the inception of the project that the watch remains relatively thin and comfortable on the wrist even when considering its transformative nature. In its Neutral form, Noor is a grade-5 Titanium structure measuring 10 mm at its highest peak and featuring a combination of sandblasted and polished surfaces that accent its architecture.

At the front of this structure lies a pusher that, when pressed, activates two spring-loaded mechanisms, bringing the full watch capsule up vertically, and displaying the hours and minutes against the manual-wind engine powering the watch.

Powering Noor is MCF5-01, A reimagined LJP D101 manual-wind caliber, The D101 was chosen as a base due to its fitting size and measurements, as well as its excellent performance, but was modified in 2 distinct ways. The first being shorter wheels and pinions in order to fit the movement and time display in a capsule that measures only 5.5 mm in height, and the second being refinishing the movement to the Maghnam standard. Decorations added include Cotes De Geneve, Anglage, cerclage, sandblasting, as well as various coatings and hand finishes that add depth and dimensionality to a remarkably thin movement.

Noor displays the time through an opening in the titanium dial that hovers over the indicators rather than underneath them. This opening reveals a sweeping sapphire disc with the hour reading, as well as a rotating Maghnam emblem indicating the minutes in a traditional clockwise fashion.

MOHAREB
محارب

Mohareb means Warrior or Gladiator in Arabic, those being the main sources of inspiration when it comes to the aggressive, helmet-like look of the watch. It is no human warrior, however; Mohareb also draws from legends and mythical beings, it is a shape shifting watch that, much like a mythical warrior, can be equipped with a number of different armaments (modules) that could be swapped in seconds and will change the shape of the watch entirely. The colors chosen for Mohareb also reflect the divine nature of its inspirations, using different finishes of steel along with a grayscale palette to represent both the light and evil in every warrior.

Mohareb features Maghnam's first retrograde complication movement, with retrograde hours to the front of the watch and a vertical minutes counter in the middle of the case.

At launch, 4 different modules will be available, Blades, Halo, Wings, and Armor, the latter being a pocket watch option. customers will have the choice between one – or more – modules at the purchase date and can indeed obtain extra modules at a later date. To further represent its own personality, the Blades module will come with a large scale black alligator leather strap, the Halo module will come with a large scale Blue alligator leather strap, the wings module will come with a large scale Burgundy alligator leather strap, and the Armor module will of course come with a pocket watch chain.

General specifications:

- 316L steel construction, available in Polished and satin finishes

-8.6 mm thick

-Weight starts at 43,5 grams

-Modular design allows the wearer to entirely change the look of the watch.

-Retrograde movement MCR01 with vertical minutes counter display,

- Crocodile leather strap.

- Limited run.

Madar مدار

MADAR
مدار

While my last project, Makina, took its inspiration from the motoring world, Madar takes its own from the skies, from futuristic galactic exploration, and from a desire to take “pure” to the next level.

Purity in design is often nowadays mistaken for blandness or emptiness, I personally am not inspired by this interpretation, and instead believe a pure design should stand on its own with its own character. Madar follows just that, it is a sleek sculpture that brings exotic and wearable together, albeit with a few hidden secrets.

Simple acts like setting the time, winding a movement, or changing the strap – to name a few- are just proof of how strong the bond could be between the owner and their watch, and I wanted to see just how far I can take this concept with Madar. One of the watch’s most distinct features is that it all sits on a special, continuous, 360-degree rotation mechanism that allows the wearer to choose which orientation they want it to be, and they can change that orientation freely with the watch still on their wrists. This means any inconveniences in setting the time or wearing the watch on the wrong wrist are all but eliminated. It is also an invitation to look and use the watch more often, regardless of actually reading what time it is, something only watch freaks would understand. The name Madar (arabic for satellite, orbit) was chosen to best reflect this.

General specifications:

- 316L steel construction, with optional PVD coating.

- 3D glass.

-360 bi-directional continuous mechanism allows the owner to choose whatever direction to wear the watch.

- In house jump hour module based on sellita sw200 / stp 1-11.

- Cordura stap or crocodile leather strap.

- available in different colors.

- Limited run, hand built.

MAKINA
مَاكِنَة

Makina represents the first embodiment of Maghnam's sculptures of time (ST), 2 years of development, as well as my heart and soul, went into creating something that could truly be considered art on a wrist, and it is finally here.

Every single detail in this piece was designed specifically in order to amplify, as well as enrich, its three-dimensional, multi-layered architecture. The impeccable mirror finish, the constructed domed glass, the inner leather flooring, those amongst its other design elements all ensure that in whatever angle you look at your watch, you'll be treated to a sight like nothing else.

Makina will help redefine what a watch should look like, it's here to stay, and yes, you definitely want one.

General specifications:

- 316L steel construction.

- Domed glass.

- Sellita SW210-1 Swiss movement.

- Nile river Crocodile belly leather strap.

- Customisable inner leather flooring.

- Limited run, hand built.

About MAGHNAM.

My journey into watchmaking was a slow gradual one, what started as curiosity turned into an interest, a hobby, a study, and then finally a passion and a career. This process allowed me to fully appreciate the field as an outsider first, falling in love with horology as a discipline rather than a business, before deciding to leave my career in mechanical engineering to pursue watchmaking full time.

To me, watches are beauty beyond what's logical, your phone will tell the time just fine, but it is the sheer finesse of the mechanical timepiece, represented by simple acts like winding your watch every morning, that make the bond between the owner and their watch, a holy one. I once listened to a professional watchmaker talk about how her watches are living creatures, how they live on for as long as we care for them, and that resonates with me till this day, it is part of what made me want to contribute to this mesmerizing field, and it is why I am here today.
