ST-002 Makina (ماكنة)

MAKINA is here.

There’s an undeniable connection between cars and watches, perhaps because, much like wearing a watch, sitting behind the steering wheel makes you an extension of the car, and it of you.

My love for automobiles, specifically those from the 50s and the 60s, most definitely inspired Makina. To me, cars like the Lamborghini Miura or  Jaguar E-Type are nothing short of masterpieces, a timeless proof of what beauty human beings can achieve.

One of the key design elements I wanted in Makina was for it to have both an “exterior” and an “interior” just like a car would, that is to get rid of the one dimensional dial covering the entire area beneath the glass, and instead use different materials, constructions, and layers inside the watch to compliment the masterfully crafted steel exterior. There’s an aluminium roll cage keeping everything in place, a pristine leather floor that takes it all up to 11, and a mid-mounted manual wind engine ticking the watch to life.

Makina embodies the “Sculpture of Time”, and I'm just getting started. For more technical information please visit the (About Makina) on the home page.
